South of Old Town, the Pechanga Resort Casino complex runs a row of restaurants that keep going later than almost anything else in the valley. There is a buffet, there are steak and sushi rooms, and there are casual counters, all under one roof with parking attached. That is the whole utility of the place for a visitor.
Temecula shuts early. Old Town kitchens stop taking tables sooner than people from Los Angeles or San Diego expect, and the tasting room restaurants are done well before that. If your day has run long, if a flight landed late, or if you got back from the vineyards past nine, this is the dependable answer rather than a compromise.
It is also the one part of town that operates on a completely different clock from everything around it. The valley outside is dark and residential by then. Inside, it is fully lit and busy, and that contrast is jarring the first time.
Worth being clear about what this is: a large resort complex, not a neighborhood. There is no walk to anywhere else and nothing nearby once you leave. You drive in, you eat, you drive back.
Reservations still matter at the sit-down rooms, particularly on weekends and when there is a show on. The casual counters and the buffet handle walk-ups better, which is what makes them the reliable late option, but a headline event can fill the whole complex and the parking with it.
If you are travelling with people who do not want a casino floor, check how the room you are heading for is reached. Some restaurants sit off the gaming areas and some do not, and it is easier to route around it if you know in advance. Minors are restricted on the gaming floor, which shapes which entrance you use.
The drive is short from most of the valley but it is a drive, and the road in is a different direction from Old Town and wine country. Do not plan a late dinner here after an evening of tasting without settling who is driving.
Hours vary by restaurant and shift with the event calendar, so confirm the specific room rather than assuming the complex is open. Your local manager will know what is running late on a given night, which is exactly the kind of thing worth a text before you all get in the car.
